Samuel Flynn Scott has released over 15 albums with the likes of The Phoenix Foundation, solo, Fly My Pretties as well as Dave Dobbyn and Mermaidens (as producer). He has toured the world with TPF, composed the soundtracks to films like Hunt For The Wilderpeople and Boy and in general done almost everything there is to be done in the world of music. He is gearing up to release his fourth solo album featuring David Kilgour, Riki Gooch, SJD and more.
Samuel Flynn Scott is one of the outstanding New Zealand songwriters of his generation. He has been shortlisted for the silver scroll five times, won a plethora of NZMA, B-Net, NZ Film and APRA awards, he has been long-listed for an Oscar and Nominated for Australian and Canadian film awards. He has contributed (with writing partners Luke Buda and Conrad Wedde) to the scores for the number 1 and number 2 most successful New Zealand films of all time (Boy and Hunt For The Wilderpeople) as well TV shows Wellington Paranormal, Far North and The Gulf. His most recent film project was writing the orchestral score (performed by the NZSO) for the latest Sponge Bob film Saving Bikini Bottom.
Samuel has produced albums for Dave Dobbyn, Mermaidens, Eva Prowse and The Phoenix Foundation. He has contributed to albums by Lawrence Arabia, Neil Finn, Flight Of The Conchords, Luke Buda, Jess Chambers, Delaney Davidson and many more. He has toured with the NZSO, performed to an audience of millions on Later…With Jools Holland and to an audience of three people in Ashburton with Barry Saunders and Julia Deans.
He has released three acclaimed solo records, and is working towards the release of his fourth. He has also released seven albums with The Phoenix Foundation, several soundtrack albums with TPF and Moniker, two albums with Fly My Pretties and one more as a guest artist. His songs have been playlisted on commercial stations across the UK and Europe and alternative and college radio in the US and Asia. His songs have been lauded by the likes of Jarvis Cocker and Iggy Pop, BBC 6 Music, Steve Jones on KROQ, The Guardian, Mojo, and UNCUT.
